DeWys Manufacturing Inc. Creates Learning Experiences for Six Summer Interns and Co-Op Students

Marne, MI (June 19th, 2015) – DeWys Manufacturing Inc., a West – Michigan based metal solutions company, is pleased to announce the addition of six summer interns and co-op students.

interns_and_ownersThis is the fifth summer that DeWys Mfg. has offered opportunities to students looking for experience in their field of study. The interns are excited to take the theories learned in the classroom and practice them with professionals in that industry. Thus creating an opportunity not only for the interns, but also for DeWys Mfg. team members to collaborate and gain a new prospective on job related functions. Five years ago when DeWys Mfg. started an internship program, welding was the only field offered. Now we have a wide variety of programs ranging from accounting and IT to engineering and supply chain management. Each intern is assigned a mentor and a project with meetings held biweekly to check in on progress; finishing with an overall presentation to the management team at the end of the summer.

DeWys Manufacturing has a long history of working with students from high schools and colleges in the West Michigan area. The classroom knowledge these students bring to DeWys helps to improve our processes and procedures, ultimately benefiting the customers we serve. The interns take away the confidence needed to maneuver through real world experiences. Kyle VanderStelt and Andrew Stouffer are Co-Op mechanical engineering students from Grand Valley State University and both agree that, “you will never have a career where you won’t be able to apply the knowledge learned at DeWys Mfg.” Mitch Breuker, a sales intern from Davenport University said, “the relationships I have developed here at DeWys Mfg. will help me navigate the complicated spider web that is called business”. Therefore, DeWys believes creating these opportunities is a winning combination for us and our interns.
