Meet DeWys’ Five Summer Interns!

It’s no secret that a great team is what brings quality to a company. One factor that sets DeWys Manufacturing apart is our dedication to education for both current and future team members.

This summer, DeWys welcomed five interns to the team, all with a variety of skills and experience. We believe that there is an abundance of opportunity for both our advancement and their own individual growth by gaining real world experience in a continuously developing industry.

Katie Lindow is a Marketing Intern studying Advertising and Public Relations at Grand Valley State University. With graduation coming up quickly, Katie is excited to apply her skills to real world projects while learning more about being on a marketing team. So far, she has loved working with her team to promote DeWys’ brand and seeing how the company considers itself a family. In her free time, Katie loves to paint and play drums, as well as volunteer at the Happy Cat Cafe in Downtown Grand Rapids.

Sam Hoffman is DeWys’ Co-Op Engineering Intern who is also studying at GVSU. He is excited to gain more experience in the world of engineering through his internship, and so far, he loves the variety of work he has been doing here. “It’s very refreshing to finish a project then start something completely different,” Sam explains. Besides engineering, Sam enjoys playing ultimate frisbee for fun.

Our IT Intern, Nathan Butgereit, will be a senior this upcoming fall at Michigan Tech studying Computer Network System Administration. As a part of the DeWys team, Nathan hopes to gain experience and useful knowledge from the current IT staff. He finds the work atmosphere inviting and like a great place to do work with colleagues. Besides work and academics, Nathan likes to rock climb and play the viola and cello.

Our Supply Chain Intern, Kelley Walrath, is going into his senior year at Grand Valley State University. He hopes to gain real-world experience and knowledge that will help him when launching his post-graduation career in Spring 2023. He enjoys DeWys’ company culture and learning new skills with the people from his team. Outside of work and studying, Kelley loves to ride and work on motorcycles in his spare time.

Thomas Bate has joined the team as a Welding Intern while he studies Welding Engineering at Ferris State University. As he enters the welding field, Thomas says he hopes to put his skills to the test by working on real projects at DeWys and determining what areas he needs to work on the most. The main thing he loves about DeWys is our drive for improvement and automation. Thomas says, “The want to grow and get better is very important to me. It shows that even if something is working, there can always be room to improve.” In Thomas’s free time he thrives in the outdoors, specifically by hanging out by the water during summer and hunting in the fall.

The entire DeWys team would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest team members as we use our 45 years of business experience to assist the next generation in their educational journeys. We’re thrilled to have you here!
