For the past 13 years, DeWys Metal Solutions, a leading metal manufacturing company, has been proudly partnering with the innovative Manufacturing, Engineering, Prototyping, and Pathways (MEPP) program at Coopersville High School in Michigan.

MEPP is a unique and one-of-a-kind STEM program designed to build interest in manufacturing careers among high school students and provide them with hands-on experience and training in various STEM-related fields like metalworking, woodworking, plastics fabrication, and more.

Leading Metal Manufacturing Company

Applications for the MEPP program are open from April to May each year, accepting students in their junior or senior year of high school. With a mission to ignite passion for manufacturing careers and positively impact supply chains by nurturing quality candidates, the program focuses on fostering partnerships between local manufacturing companies and students seeking careers in manufacturing and STEM-related fields, enabling them to imagine, design, and build the future.

The MEPP program offers students a wealth of opportunities, including collaborations with nine business partners, interview coaching, resume writing assistance, job shadowing, potential employment opportunities, and hands-on classes in metal fabrication, wood fabrication, and plastics fabrication. Additionally, students have the chance to earn valuable industry certifications, further enhancing their skill set and employability in manufacturing jobs.

These partnerships open doors for high school students seeking alternative career paths beyond traditional university education after high school graduation. Within its partnership with DeWys, a top metal fabrication company, the MEPP program students receive comprehensive preparation for gainful employment, access to materials for hands-on projects, and additional resources to support their learning and development in manufacturing skills.

The manufacturing skills learned in the program encompass a wide range of disciplines, including metalworking, welding, CNC machining, woodworking, plastics fabrication, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), engineering principles, and coding. As a specialist in metal solutions and custom metal fabrication, DeWys works closely with faculty and students, engaging them in advancing the metal manufacturing field while providing employment opportunities tailored to their interests and strengths. Furthermore, the program offers scholarship opportunities to deserving students, enabling them to pursue further education and training in their chosen manufacturing or STEM fields.
